After the last Supper, Jesus went out to the Mount of Olives, a place called Gethsemane and prayed that if at all possible the cup he was about to drink (his Passion and Death) could pass him by, but the Father's will, not his, be done.  As Jesus prayed the Apostles slept.

NOTE:  One of the Apostles has a sword which is used to cut off the ear of the high priest's servant.  In John's narrative, this would be Peter.  (18:10)
